BlankBDCafe: Poker Information

Royal Flush Welcome to Bad Dog's poker room. Here you can find information and links specific to the art of playing poker. I have been playing poker pretty steadily for the past 5 years and have had good years and bad years. I believe I'm getting better all the time. I recently went on a trip to Palm Spring where I played 7 Card High Low. I watched until a seat was available, about 45 minutes. Then lost $160 within 20 minutes. After learning a few more of the rules and 3 hours of playing time I came out $260 ahead. I contribute this win to the fact that playing poker week after week you learn a little bit about when to play and what to play.

For members of the Thursday Night Poker club you can enter the TNP Poker Header subsystem to get your stats and other player information that you want to find. What and who is TNP? It is the table I play at and we the players have been playing poker together just about every Thursday night for many many years. We all come from different walks in life, some married some not, but all enjoy the occasional sweet victory at the table. I have created this site to help our own table retrieve information via the web.

Many non-members have asked me about house rules so I have decided to list the house rules that are used at both Bad Dog's cafe and Marlboro House. They are as follows:

House owner resolves all situations and conflicts not covered herein!
Dealers Choice Dealer's choice - deal rotates, with dealer playing any game and rules they wish.
Minimum bet $0.10 Maximum bet $1.00 Most games no raise limit.
Ace can be high or low in a straight, otherwise, aces default to high except in special games where the dealer makes the rules.
Dealer is GOD resolving all rules that are not covered by the house.
Ante varies from game to game, and are always set by the dealer.
It cost $20.00 to sit down at the table. This amount must be paid up front in order to get your chips. All other financial tranactions are the responsibility of the bank subject to board approval (table members).
Chip Colors & Values:
Marlboro House:   Black Chip  $0.50   Red Chip  $0.25   White Chip  $0.10
Bad Dog's Cafe:   Yellow Chip  $1.00   Blue Chip  $0.50   Red Chip  $0.25   White Chip  $0.10
No pagan idols at the table.
BYOA, BYOB and food, but share the wealth.
Bar talking (trash & table talk) is permitted, and even encouraged.
In case of ties, winners split pot. If non-even, remainder goes to the called player, or if in a high-low game, to the high hand.
The Pay Ledger: This is used to track any amount that is owed to the house or another player. If the individual end up owing money he must pay the end of the night in the form of cash or check. Arrangements can be made between the two parties but the house is not held responsible.
Tapping Out: when a player has put all his money into the pot and can no longer bet, this is called a Tap Out. The player is permitted to keep playing taking the amount bet out of the pot and placed in front of them. If the pot is won by the player all the chips go to them. If the pot is split the chip in front of the player is given to the other split player(s) and the rest of the pot is split appropriately. If the player losses the pot he goes onto pay ledger for the amount owned and to whom the amount is owed.
Newcomers may sit in any open seat, but must pass their deal until everyone at the table has dealt.
To leave, players should declare their last deal, and continue to play until it is their turn to deal again, at which time they may cash out.
Cards speak for themselves.
The lowest possible hand is Ace, 2, 3 , 4, 6 not of the same suit.
If a player tries to go both ways in a High|Low game, he must win both to collect any of the pot. A tie goes to the players trying to defeat them.
Wild Cards These are the standard wild cards used except in specialty games. The one eyed jacks: Jack of Hearts & Jack of Spades. The sucide king: King of Hearts. The man with an axe: King of Diamonds.
